A few days ago I found out that the WordPress The Daily Post is closing its doors at the end of this month and will no longer be publishing Daily Prompts, Weekly Photo Challenges, Community Pools or First Fridays.
So it is with a bit of a heavy heart that I post my last entry for the WP Weekly Photo Challenge. I admit that this news came as a shock and I needed to read the email several times before actually registering what it said. Noticing how much I like continuity and familiarity, how I would have preferred more time to adjust, to have some kind of backup already in place. The Weekly Photo Challenge has become an important creative focus of my week. One that I have enjoyed immensely.
I have much appreciation for the folks who offered these Weekly Photo Challenges. Through them I have been inspired to stretch my imagination and explore creativity in ways that I haven’t done in many years. To step outside the box and expand my vision, to be in tune once again with shapes and colors, and how they dance together.
I also have a huge gratitude for the photographers and writers I have met through these prompts and challenges. For the inspiration I have received from them as I’ve watched how they take in, interpret and bring forth creations reflecting what’s important to them. I look forward to more of this exchange. I am reminded of the camaraderie I experienced way back in art classes, when we, as students would create a circle with our easels around a still life or model. I would periodically walk around the circle and see all the different interpretations, angles and variations that were being created. Like new worlds of endless possibilities opening up!
