It seems that this flower is an “Eastern Redbud” (or in this case Western) Cercis canadensis. Thanks to Curt over at “Wandering Through Time and Place” for the tip about there being an app to help identify plants and flowers.
Thanks Curt. Every year these flowers come back just like this on the trees. Inspired by one of your recent posts I am going to use the app and see if I can find out what kind of tree it is..
The Eastern (Western) Redbud is such a magnicent-looking tree. Such striking images you’ve presented of the flower-buds contrasted against the rugged bark and lichen. Sorry that I haven’t visited you in ages, but I’ve been dealing with pain issues that have taken over my life. Hope you have a wonderful day, Arati.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts Olga. I understand how dealing with pain can be debilitating and how it has taken over your life. I imagine you might be longing for some relief and ease.
I’m glad you enjoyed seeing these images and I agree about this tree being magnificent-looking. There are quite a few of them in this area an I have enjoyed photographing them every Spring. I love the way the flowers grow straight from the trunk, like little bouquets.
I am moving out of this area at the end of the month and seeing these trees blossom in the Spring is one of the things I will miss.
May you be well Olga.
